Bespoke Renovation of Westminster Terrace Apartment by Dhaka Interior Design
After living for eight years in their large 2,400 sqft. duplex at The Westminster Terrace, our clients decided it was time for a major refresh. They wanted to update their living space with a new style. Finding renovation ideas is not hard, but tailoring them to a specific lifestyle can be challenging. Fortunately, Dhaka Interior Design’s experts knew exactly how to meet these needs.
Tailoring Renovation for a Comfortable Lifestyle
Since moving in, the clients’ lifestyle has evolved. Cooking has become a passion, making a spacious kitchen essential. However, they wanted to keep kitchen odors and grease away from the rest of the apartment.
Dhaka Interior Design reimagined the ground floor to create a large, open area. Instead of a fully open kitchen, they added a semi-transparent glass partition between the kitchen and living room. This choice allows light to flow through while keeping the spaces distinct.
Enhancing the Communal Area
In the communal space, an abstract display unit adds both style and function. This unit looks like art when empty but serves as a shelf when needed.
The balconies were turned into a lovely garden with grey-mirrored planters, perfect for the couple’s gardening hobby.
Master Suite and Versatile Spaces
Upstairs, Dhaka Interior Design redesigned three bedrooms into a luxurious master suite, complete with a walk-in closet and study. The former fourth bedroom became a multi-use area for storage, guest accommodation, and a play space for the couple’s two dogs.
Creating a Modern Atmosphere
The updated Westminster Terrace apartment features modern design elements. Premium wood and horizontally patterned marble in light grey tones create a cohesive look. Custom terrazzo tiles with a subtle sparkle, along with gold and black metal accents, enhance the dining area’s elegance.
Artistic Touches and Practical Solutions
Creative wall treatments add depth and function. A mirrored wall in the entrance brightens and enlarges the corridor. A hand-painted glass door, decorated with artwork by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien, adds a personal touch and honors a cherished friend.
In the master suite, a full-height fabric headboard and a floor-to-ceiling door in the study create a unique vertical space.
Stylish and Functional Powder Room
A stylish powder room on the ground floor, often overlooked in renovations, was cleverly designed. Dhaka Interior Design used a curved veneer ceiling and a grey mirror wall to visually extend the room and integrate structural elements into the design.
Conclusion
This duplex at The Westminster Terrace showcases a minimalistic yet elegant design. Every choice, from color schemes to materials and lighting, was carefully selected by Dhaka Interior Design to enhance the clients’ living experience.
